Globe Garden chair: a piece of furniture or art?
29 years ago, Norwegian designer Peter Opsvik designed a chair that made an iconic appearance in the design world, the Globe Garden chair. Moment AB recently launched an updated version which became not only a piece of furniture but also a work of art.
In the newer version, the “tree-branches” are longer and became footrests. Its higher seating position also provides a better outlook and ergonomics.
The Globe Garden has a ball-shaped back which supports the upper body of the user, providing comfortable sitting positions.
This product was designed for home-usage but also public places. We can easily imagine it in a museum or an art gallery.
The Globe Garden is an impressive piece of design. For us, it is the proof that product design is a very important part of design these days: it is one of the most interesting things we’ve seen lately and is actually functional.
