Another Year of the Rooster inspiration
Every year Chopard launches a limited series of watches L.U.C XP inspired by the Chinese zodiac. This year the Year of the Rooster is celebrated from January 28 and, once again, the Swiss brand puts the animal of the respective Chinese year on the watch face.
To create this accessory, as well as other older models, the brand worked with the company Yamada Heiando, official supplier of the Japanese imperial family, with the master Kilchiro Masumura, who designed and supervised all the production of the dials.
Minori Koizumi, a master of the Urushi technique, also collaborated in the watch’s creation. The watch is made with a Japanese ancestral technique, called Urushi, which consists of applying powdered gold by tubes of bamboos or tiny brushes that draw extremely fine lines.
A sapphire crystal is also applied to a pink gold cap that is attached to the mechanism using eight screws. The company wanted the watch case to be finer and understated to enhance the art of the dial. Thus, it is 39.5 millimeters in diameter and 6.8 millimeters in thickness.
This high-grade watch is made up of 18 karats of pink gold and a black crocodile skin strap. It costs 21,270 €.
