The “Bao Dai” Rolex 6062 is going on auction
Dutch technology company Philips has just announced that it will be auctioning a legendary piece: the “Bao Dai” Rolex 6062. The auction will happen on May 13 and May in Geneva.
This watch is considered one of the most valuable and desired Rolexes in the world. The brand describes it as the “most complicated and iconic Oyster-cased model” ever produced.
The timepiece used to belong to Vietnam’s last emperor, Bao Dai, which only adds to its rarity and value. The watch has a pre-sale estimation of over 1.5 million dollars, making it the most expensive watch in the world.
Its combination of black dial and diamond markers is the rarest configuration for a Rolex 6062. The timepiece features a triple calendar and moonphase in yellow gold. There are only other two black dial models with diamond markers in the world.
Finally, the fact that this was the most expensive Rolex over sold at auction in 2002 for the modest price of 235.000 dollars makes this auction one of the most awaited events of the year for watch lovers. For now, we’ll have to wait and see what happens and May but we already predict that history will stay for history.
