Canon created a printer that fits in your pocket
In a time when everything is immediate and lasts for a second, there is a growing tendency to reverse that. Pictures, in particular, are snapshots of our lives, but nowadays they are so easily forgotten.
We never took so many photos but they end up forgotten in our Instagram feeds. Photography giant Canon is fighting that. The brand’s new creation is making us remember the long-lasting power of print.
We are talking about Canon’s new IVY Mini Photo Printer, a pocket-sized printer. You can print physical copies of your photos anytime and anywhere. The printer actually resembles the HP Sprocket Printer, which we addressed before.
Both the Canon and HP versions use ZINK Zero Ink technology, a full-colour printing system for digital devices. It does not require ink cartridges and prints in a single pass. Another similarity is the fact that both printers allow printing on regular photo paper or in stickers. However, Canon’s Mini Printer comes in three colourways: Rose Gold, Mint Green and Slate Gray.
It prints 2×3 photos directly from your camera roll or social media feed. It requires that your mobile device is connected to the Canon IVY Mini Photo Printer via Bluetooth and the Canon Mini Print App. The app is available for free on the App Store and at Google Store.
You can customize your photos in the app, with a range of filters, frames and stickers. The biggest advantage of Canon’s IVY printer is that it is small enough to fit in your pocket. You can be on the street, take a picture and save it in your wallet forever.
The printer is available at Canon’s online store. You also need to purchase the paper. I love this kind of inventions, as it brings back the magic of analogue photography, which I love so much!
